What are Dental Implants?

When tooth loss is evident, dental implants provide a stable and long-term tooth replacement alternative. A
dental implant combines a custom fabricated restoration, such as a crown, and a titanium implant that replaces the functionality of the pre-existing tooth root. The design of a dental implant is meant to replicate the structure and characteristics of a natural tooth. Dental implants may be a practical restorative solution when a tooth or several teeth are missing. When this affects your lifestyle or the overall functionally of your teeth, dental implants can provide a natural and stable foundation for preventing further tooth loss or bone deficiencies.

Dental Implant Benefits

Patient Photos Ickert Dental Implant Centre LangleyDental implants have revolutionized the field of dentistry and have become the standard of care for the replacement of missing teeth. Dental implants allow missing teeth to be restored to optimum function and appearance, without harming or damaging the neighbouring healthy teeth or tissues. They have become a predictable and permanent treatment option for our Metro Vancouver patients due to many of the benefits they offer.

Please see some of the significant benefits of dental implants below:

Predictable and Proven Solution for Missing Teeth

Dental implants are engineered to provide you with a stable and long-term tooth replacement alternative. They are surgically placed in the jawbone allowing for a durable and sturdy solution to missing teeth, dental bridges, and dentures. Prior to moving ahead with dental implant placement, a comprehensive dental exam is recommended to develop a specific treatment plan and options for each individual patient.

Natural in Appearance and Function

The quality of life can often be greatly improved and enhanced with the integration of dental implants. Dental implants are surgically placed and anchored into the jawbone and provide a strong and durable foundation for the appearance of natural looking teeth.

Avoids Disturbing Healthy Teeth

Other restorative procedures, such as dental bridges, can disturb neighboring healthy teeth. These procedures require the removal of tooth structure and enamel, which may increase the risk of failure. A dental implant can replace single or multiple teeth without harming the structure of adjacent healthy teeth.

Stable, Secure, and Effective

With over a 95% success rate, dental implants are often the best treatment option for replacing missing teeth. They are considered to be one of the most successful dental procedures available.

Easily Maintained

Patient Photo Ickert Dental Implant CentreDental implants give new smiles to patients who have lost single or multiple teeth. Care for your dental implant just as you would natural teeth, through brushing, flossing, and routine dental visits. Your dental hygienist can also assist in the maintenance and cleaning of your dental implants, so routine visits to the dentist are recommended.

Strong as Natural Teeth

Dental implants allow you to maintain the same strong biting force as you would have with healthy natural teeth. As a preferred treatment option for missing teeth, the placement of dental implants will allow you to once again enjoy eating, smiling, and speaking with ease.

Comfortably Anchor your Denture or Bridge

One of the best known applications of dental implants is treating edentulous patients or patients without any teeth. Many patients who wear dentures often suffer due to loose and free moving dentures. Through the placement of dental implants, you are able to drastically improve the comfort, function, and stability of your existing denture or bridge. Dentures that are anchored by dental implants can also be easily removed for cleaning, enabling you to maintain optimal oral health.
